VCA Pets First Animal Hospital

Kristen James (formerly Pikul), DVM, Medical Director

DVM, Michigan State University

Biography

Dr. James, formerly, Dr. Pikul, joined our staff October 2011, transferring from VCA West End in the Short Pump area of Richmond.  She has been with VCA since 2008.  Dr. Pikul graduated from Michigan State University in 1997 with a B.S. in Zoology and continued at Michigan State until 2001 when shee received her DVM degree.  Currently, Dr. James has two dogs.  Pooch, who is a 14 yr old Cocker Spaniel,  has been with Dr. James since her vet school days.  He has been called "mamma's boy" by some, because he is spoiled rotten.  He is now blind, and selectively deaf, and would tell you that he needs another treat.  Banjo, who has been recently adopted, is a wonderful, fun-loving "tripod."  Dr. James is active in her church and enjoys community service projects, helping in the church nursery, and of course, fellowship.  She recently married in June 2012.
