Caring for pets... and their people, too.

VCA Total Care Animal Hospital welcomes you and your pets to our caring hospital! We make your pet's health our top priority and excellent customer service is our first goal! Our doctors take the time to perform a thorough exam on all dogs and cats who come to us and to explain all findings to you. Our support staff has a wealth of information to help you make informed decisions about the best healthcare for your pet. Our knowledge of the latest veterinary medicine and procedures ensures that all of our patients receive the best in prevention and treatments!

Local Medical Issues

One of several Richmond area issues which may affect the health of your pet is heartworm disease, which can affect both cats and dogs and is transmitted by mosquitoes (which thrive in our region). This is a serious cause for concern since the winter temperatures here do not get cold enough to kill mosquito eggs - making heartworm a year-round risk.

Dobby-A Love Story
Alice Nottingham from Richmond

The kind staff at the Broad St. location helped us adopt the most wonderful 6 mo old kitten, Dobby, to befriend our older rescue cat, Buddy. Being new to cat ownership, it took us a while to understand that Buddy simply did not like having Dobby around. The nice staff did everything they could to help, including taking Dobby back, no questions asked. We grew to love little Dobby but knew the older cat needed us more. They made a hard thing easier and I highly recommend this VCA animal staff for the care of your pet. Sincerely, Alice.
