Operating as an extension of the primary care veterinarian’s practice, VCA Southwest Freeway Animal Hospital provides our referring veterinarians with access to a wealth of state-ofthe-art, sophisticated resources. All information is provided in a timely manner and in an environment where collaboration between pet parents, their primary care veterinarian, along with VCA Southwest Freeway Animal Hospital’s team of veterinarians and technicians is highly encouraged.

Our doctors work as a partner with our referring veterinarians, not just accepting referral cases, but also by providing consultations, giving opinions, and offering advice when asked. We combine the most advanced care with unparalleled bedside manners to provide the highest quality care available for our patients.

Urgent Care Hours:
Monday-Friday: 8:00 am - 6:00 pm
Saturday: 8:00 am - 2:00 pm
Sunday: Closed

Urgent Care appointments are offered during our open hours.

Some conditions that require a visit include:

  • Allergic Reactions (Hives/Facial Swelling)
  • Blood in Urine / Stool
  • Difficulty Urinating /Defecating
  • Foreign Body Ingestion
  • Vomiting / Diarrhea
  • Toxin Ingestion
  • Coughing w/out distress
  • Active seizures or multiple seizures in 24 hour period
  • Short Term Hospitalization (<12hrs)
  • Lacerations, Abscesses, & Wounds
  • Lameness / Difficulty Walking
  • Severe Trauma
  • Profuse bleeding from any wound
  • Snake bite
  • Persistent non-productive retching
  • Minor Orthopedic Injury
  • Minor Surgeries
  • Chronic Illness with Acute Change
  • Torn / Broken Toenails
  • Euthanasia

Some conditions may require us to stabilize and then refer you and your pet to an emergency or specialty hospital for advanced care.

Urgent Care services are medical care provided for illnesses or injuries which require prompt attention but are typically not of such seriousness as to require the services of an emergency room.

Examples of veterinary Urgent Care are:

Illnesses:

  • Coughing
  • Diarrhea
  • Excessive Drinking
  • Fever
  • Poison/Toxic Ingestion
  • Allergies
  • Urinary Tract Issues
  • Vomiting

Injuries:

  • Abscesses
  • Pain
  • Cuts And Scrapes
  • Fracture Assessment
  • Limping
  • Post-Op Incisions
  • Pain Management

Or just not doing well:

  • Ear Infections
  • End Of Life Care
  • Hiding Or Whining
  • Hives Or Swelling
  • Lumps And Bumps
  • Parasites
  • Snake Bites
  • Adverse Reactions

For more complex or life-threatening issues, we will work to stabilize your pet and provide assistance in getting your pet transferred to an emergency facility for further treatment or overnight care.

If you are not a current client of VCA Southwest Freeway Animal Hospital, we will be available for your pet. Please be prepared to provide as much health history as possible during your visit. Although not necessary, it does assist our team in creating a treatment plan.
