Rebecca Martin, DVM, Medical Director

DVM, University of Missouri

Dr Martin is a full time general practitioner with a passion for preventive care and internal medicine. She joined VCA Raleigh Hills Animal Hospital early 2007 and enjoys working 5 days a week. Dr Martin has strong interests in the role of wellness care and early detection on longevity and comfort. She firmly believes that we can dramatically improve an aging pets´┐Ż quality of life by addressing health problems early, when they are most readily treatable. Dr Martin enjoys caring for all life stages of both cats and dogs, and believes that owners and veterinarians are integral partners in the healthcare of our beloved pets.

Dr Martin began working in the veterinary field as a teenager and used multiple part time jobs at emergency and university clinics to help finance her way through school. She started her academic training in her home state at the University of Florida, then traveled abroad to study in Glasgow Scotland for 2 years before acceptance into veterinary school in Missouri. This time abroad helped Dr Martin develop her philosophy on animal welfare issues and laid the basis for her interest in internal medicine. After earning her degree Dr Martin worked in Wisconsin before she and her husband, with their menagerie of pets, moved to Portland.
