Tonopen

Intra-ocular pressure (IOP) is the fluid pressure inside the eye. Tonometry is the method your veterinarian uses to determine this.

• When to Measure IOP

– Any time you see a ‘red-eye’

– Monitor drug therapy for glaucoma

– Head or orbital trauma

– Diagnosis of secondary glaucoma

• Uveitis specifically refers to inflammation of the middle layer of the eye, termed the "uvea" but in common usage may refer to any inflammatory process involving the interior of the eye.
• Hyphema (or hyphaema, see spelling differences) is blood in the front (anterior) chamber of the eye. It may appear as a reddish tinge, or it may appear as a small pool of blood at the bottom of the iris or in the cornea.

– Blindness

– Cataract evaluation

• Glaucoma, lens induced uveitis, etc.
