Nassau-Suffolk Animal Hospital

Our Hospital

Nassau-Suffolk Animal Hospital is a full-service animal hospital that has proudly served the Farmingdale and surrounding communities since 1969. One of the first AAHA-accredited hospitals in New York over 30 years ago, and a N.Y. State Veterinary Facility Accreditation hospital, it is our strong commitment to the health and well-being of our patients that has enabled us to maintain that certification consistently through the years. Our qualified and compassionate staff looks forward to caring for all your pet's medical, boarding and grooming needs.

Local Medical Issues

Everyone realizes the health benefits of owning a pet, especially to older individuals. They offer companionship and sometimes a link to lost family. At Nassau Suffolk, we also realize they can be a source of concern when there health needs are difficult to manage simply because it is too hard for some people to get them to a doctor. If you are in such a position, give us a call. We promise to do everything possible to bring the health care to you or your pet to us.

Canine Flu Alert!

Many of our clients have asked about the threat of canine influenza to their dogs. Canine flu is a highly contagious respiratory virus with nearly all dogs that are exposed becoming infected within a few days after exposure. This disease is highly contagious, so dogs that are around other dogs (boarding, grooming, dog shows, dog parks, contact with neighbors' dogs) are at increased risk.
About 80% of exposed dogs will go on to develop signs. Typical symptoms resemble those of kennel cough; a persistent cough (often accompanied by a nasal discharge). Some dogs go on to develop pneumonia and can become critically ill.
A new vaccine is available that can help reduce this risk. Please schedule an appointment today with one of our VCA veterinarians to discuss this emerging threat to your dog.
