Lilburn Pet Grooming & Boarding
Kennel AssistantGregory Bechdol
School: University of Georgia, BS in Geography
Greg joined the VCA Lilburn family in October 2015 as an animal caregiver in our kennel. Greg is a Georgia native who grew up in Stone Mountain, GA. He attended Parkview High School. Greg has been in the veterinary field for 3 1/2 years. Some of his experience came from working at the Georgia SPCA and the Atlanta Humane Society. Greg still volunteers with the SPCA in his free time. He has a 9 year old Chihuahua/Min Pin/Dachshund mix named Prudence, a 5 year old Pit bull terrier mix named Marci, and an 11 year old tabby named Dora. Greg is an outdoor enthusiast. He enjoys birdwatching, gardening, cooking, drawing, biking, playing soccer, golf, raquet-ball, rock climbing, kayaking, reading sci-fi & comics, building with LEGO, and making awesome (but safe!) bonfires in his back yard. "I was a client before I was an employee and a lot of the friendliness transferred from the former relationship with VCA Lilburn to the latter; also, I just really adore animals. I am genuinely happy working with companion animals; they never fail to entertain, enlighten, and endear."
Naoko is a new addition to our team. She is transferring to us from VCA Avalon Heart of Gwinnett and will begin offering grooming to our clients on Mondays beginning in May 2016. Naoko has been a pet stylist for 6 years, working in a grooming salon, a doggy daycare and an animal hospital. She recently moved here from Florida. Naoko and her husband share their home with 2 Portuguese Water Dogs, Chocolat and Blizzard. They enjoy obedience trial and water competition with their dogs. "I began grooming after I rescued my dog and was unable to find a groomer that knew how to properly groom my Portuguese Water Dog. I developed an interest after learning on my own dog so I started taking classes. After graduating, I preferred grooming in the veterinarian field because I enjoy not only grooming the dogs but also helping them. I love grooming show dog cuts and fancy hair styles, but overall I am more concerned about the pets health and well being. I constantly attend grooming seminars so I can offer the latest services to the clients."
I've always known that I would be working with animals in some way. I've been grooming for 38 years and received my Certified Master Groomer certificate in 1986. I attend seminars to keep current on the industry standards and the ever-changing styles and equipment used for making pets look their best.
In my free time, I love gardening, working in the yard, DIY projects, reading and hanging out with my two "girls" Lickrish and Mocha.
