Biography
Dr. Laura Smith grew up in Seattle, and recently returned to the Pacific Northwest after studying abroad and training in a variety of places in the US and Canada. After graduating from the University of Glasgow's School of Veterinary Medicine in Scotland in 2009, she completed a general veterinary internship at Red Bank Veterinary Hospital in New Jersey (2010) and a surgical internship at Dallas Veterinary Surgical Center in Texas (2011). After obtaining a year of advanced surgical training at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Canada (2012), Dr. Smith moved back to the greater Puget Sound area to be closer to her family.
Dr. Smith was very excited to join the Emergency team at the VCA Central Kitsap Animal Hospital in the autumn of 2012. In addition to loving surgery, she also has special interests in emergency medicine and critical care. When away from the hospital, Dr. Smith loves spending time with her beloved pets. Her pack includes: Oliver, the lovable roguish hound dog; Tinton and Lasker, the two adventurous tabby-tortie cats; and Raleigh, the sweetest Golden Retriever that ever lived. Dr. Smith also enjoys yoga, reading, a variety of outdoor activities and hanging out with her family.
