    Ashley Marino
    Veterinary Tech School: Platt College
    School: Golden West

    Ashley has been working at Cal Oaks for over 8 years. Her work is her passion. She loves taking care of animals and saving lives. She completed the Platt College alternate route veterinary technology program and is currently enrolled at Golden West, where she is working on her undergrad courses in order to attend veterinary school. She is hoping to attend Colorado State University for vet school. Ashley enjoys being outdoors next tot the water, and loves being surrounded by friends and family. She has two children, Allister and Kelley, who she spends her weekends with. She also has two Pitbulls, Peyton and Brinks, and is a huge advocate for the Pitbull breed.                                                      Cal Oaks is Ashley's home away from home. Cal Oaks has the best doctors and staff, and they are like her second family. She loves the family oriented atmosphere and the tight knit community at Cal Oaks. She is proud to work at this hospital, which also offers the best quality of medicine the industry has to offer.

    Starra Weinberg

    Being raised on a farm, Starra has always had a love for animals. Starra's hobbies include, hiking, biking and geocaching all over the states with her family. Starra became a Registered Veterinary Technician in 2002, graduating from Mount San Antonio College. She had taken a few years off to raise her 3 children, but has been back at VCA for 3 and 1/2 years.  Her furry companions include 2 dogs named Willow and Jaxon, 2 cats named Angel Cake and Tickle Toes and a desert tort named Gary. What she likes most about VCA California Oaks, is the quality Veterinary care that we give to every patient that comes into our hospital.

    Jessica Alatorre
    Veterinary Tech School: Currently in Penn Foster Registered Vet. tech school

    Jessica, who also goes by J.C. returned to VCA Cal Oaks September of 2014, after taking time off to raise her three kids, Hailey, Hayden, and Matilyn. Jessica also has a beautiful, young husky named Star. She originally chose to work in veterinary medicine because she loves both animals and science. She gained most of her experience while learning hands on during the two years she previously worked with the Cal Oaks team and is excited to be back in the field now. She is also enrolled in the Penn Foster Registered Veterinary Technician program to be get her license. She loves VCA because of the team members here and the family environment we have established. Jessica enjoys outdoor activities involving off-roading and the river. She also values spending time with her kids, family, and friends.

    Melissa McCray

    Melissa worked at Petco as a manager for 5 years. As the Petco manager, she had been working in partner with the Cal Oaks staff the last few years. She says she feel in love working with the staff at Cal Oaks and wanted to be part of the Cal Oaks amazing team!
    When not at work, she spends time with her husband and her Golden Retrievers named Charger and Barkley.

    Vicky Ramirez

    Vicky has many nicknames, a few are Victrocious, mama vick. Vicky joined Cal Oaks in 1998, she has been part of the family since 1998. She got into the field because of her love for animals and working with them was always her dream. She started caring for wild birds when she was very young, nursing them back to health, then setting them free. She also had several pets of her own as a kid. Her dream was to become a vet but she had a family instead. Her passion is still to devoted her time to caring for animals. Vicky is the glue that holds all of us together.  Vicky's hobbies are taking pictures, collecting shot glasses from everywhere she travels, caring for her pets and enjoying her kids and grandkids. Vicky learned her veterinary assistant skills by hands on training and teaching. She likes VCA because of the family ties that we have bonded with each other. The company also provides many continuing education sessions that help us grow in all areas of the field. Vicky has many pets; she has a chinchilla named Charlie, a kitty named Tramp, two dogs named Clyde who is a bulldog and Metiche who is a "terror" terrier. She also has five parrots named Beevus, Butthead, Bellee, Twedee and Dixie.

    Celina Williams
    Veterinary Tech School: Platt College

    Celina has been in the vet field since June of 2014 and VCA Cal oaks is her first hospital to work at. She became interested in veterinary medicine due to being in agriculture science in high school. After high school she studied at Platt college in Riverside to obtain her RVT license. She was hired a month after graduation here at Cal Oaks. She is currently in the process of studying to take her RVT national and state test. She has 4 dogs; a Chihuahua mix, wired hair terrier, German Shepard and a boxer-mastiff mix. She also has a guinea pig and a red ear slider water turtle. She loves Cal Oaks "because not only are we family oriented, we take our time in getting to know the clients and their pets. Working with animals is something I'd never want to give up." On her free time she likes photography, taking road trips, dancing, hiking and free rock climbing.

    Lisa loves animals and enjoys her career. Her goal is to help your pets be as happy and healthy as possible and to educate you all as clients to better care for your pets. She's been in the veterinary field for 19 years, ranging from small general practices all the way to full service emergency hospitals, all around Southern California. She joined the Cal Oaks team in 2014. She's always looking to help and answer any questions you may have.
