Laura Sweet, DVM, Medical Director

Dr. Laura Sweet joined VCA Bolingbrook Animal Hospital in 2007 and became Medical Director in 2011. She graduated from Michigan State University, College of Veterinary Medicine in 1999 and then completed an internship in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery at VCA Specialty Hospitals in the Chicago area. She has since worked as a general practioner in private practice prior to returning to VCA.

Dr. Sweet treats dogs and cats exclusively. She especially enjoys seeing puppies and kittens where she can assist her clients in developing a lifelong relationship with their pet. Surgery is another interest of Dr. Sweet's. She performs spays, neuters and dentals as well as more advanced procedures such as limb amputations, enucleations and gastrointestinal procedures.

Dr. Sweet is originally from a small town in Western Massachusetts and had dogs, cats and horses while growing up. She currently resides in Aurora with her husband Dan and 2 daughters. They also share their home with 2 dogs and 3 cats, all of whom were rescued. In her free time she participates in activities with her daughters, works the Sunday crossword puzzle, scrapbooks and belongs to 2 book clubs.
