Heather-Anne Burwell is the Hospital Manager for VCA Animal Medical Center of Omaha. She oversees hospital operations, finances, human resources, facilities management and marketing. Her primary focus is quality patient care and excellent client service.
Prior to joining VCA Animal Medical Center of Omaha, Heather worked in practice management, retail management, and as a management consultant. She has also worked for a U.S. Senator and a Congressman. As a consultant Heather has consulted with in the automotive, financial services, healthcare, manufacturing, medical, non-profit, and retail industries, as well as clients in government and education.
Heather received her bachelor’s degree in business leadership (BLD) and her Master’s degree in Organizational Leadership (ML) from the College of St. Mary in Omaha, Nebraska. She has published several research studies on “Leadership Skills That Lead to Financial Success in the Retail Industry,” “Generations and Interactions in the Workplace,” and “Key Components That Lead to the Success of At-Risk Students.” Additionally, Heather has a certificate in Animal Behavior.
Heather has been a member of DECA, an international association for marketing students, and has served on the board of directors and as chairperson of the Business Partnership Network. She received recognition as a DECA Award of Merit recipient in 2005 and as an Outstanding Business Partner in 2006. She has also been a member of the Superintendent’s Advisory Committee for Millard Public Schools. In 2008, Heather was named a Rising Star for her strong performance and ability to create transformational relationships with clients. Heather is a lifetime member of the Girl Scouts having earned both her Gold and Silver award as well as being named 2001 Outstanding Volunteer.
Heather has two Border Collies, Victotia (Tori) and Dalwhinnie (Whinnie). Heather is also a classically trained soprano and has performed at Carnegie Hall and at the Vatican in Rome. When she is not rehearsing for her next performance she can be found reading.
