Many dogs enjoy a day at the beach. They love the sand beneath their paws, the waves lapping back and forth and the ocean water beckoning them. It seems like a nice way to spend the day. But before you head down to your favorite beach, are you sure your favorite pooch is allowed?

First lets go over some beach etiquette

1. Always keep your dog leashed when there is a leash law.

2. Always clean up after your dog by using a poop bag or pooper scooper.

3. Don't let your dog visit with other beach-goers or dogs unless welcomed.

Here are some local beach regulations

Wrightsville Beach

Dogs are allowed on the beach from October 1 until March 31. They must be leashed.

Carolina Beach

Here dogs are allowed on the beach from November 1 until February 28. Again they must be leashed.

Kure Beach

Dogs are allowed on the beach from October 1 until March 31. Leashes are required.
