VCA Wingate Animal Hospital

Earl Wenngren, DVM, Medical Director

DVM, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign

Dr. Earl Wenngren, Medical Director, has been practicing veterinary medicine since 1977, when he graduated from the University of Illinois. He has been at VCA Wingate Animal Hospital since 1981 and has cared not only for several generations of many families's pets, but often for pets of several generations of families. Dr. Wenngren is proud of and enjoys knowing both his patients and their people as well.

Dr. Wenngren is a long time member of numerous professional organizations, including the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Denver Area Veterinary Medical Society, and the American Animal Hospital Association.

In his free time, Dr. Wenngren loves to travel, is a devoted fan of classical music and an avid reader, as welll as a serious Avalanche fan. In good weather, you might find him riding his bicycle in Cherry Creek State Park. He has been married to Bonnie, whom he first met in sixth grade, since 1977; she teaches in the Cherry Creek School District. His daughter, Claire, is currently in graduate school in Ontario, Canada. Toby and Tschai, both abandoned at the clinic, are his two terribly spoiled cats.

Specialty Care

Sometimes sick or injured pets need the care of a veterinary medical specialist. When that happens, VCA specialty hospitals work closely with the general practitioner veterinarians who refer cases to us in order to provide seamless veterinary care to your pet. When your pet is facing any kind of serious illness or injury, our specialty referral hospitals will provide the compassionate and expert care your beloved pet needs.

Our goal is to make sure that when you and your pet are in need that you have access to board certified specialists who are up to date on the very latest developments in their field. In our state of the art hospitals, our specialists also have access to the most sophisticated diagnostic and treatment tools and techniques from ultrasonography and endoscopy to CAT scans and even MRI.

As part of the VCA family, we have over 83 specialty hospitals across the US and Canada which provide referral specialty care, so there may be one near you. Our specialized services include: behavior, cardiology, critical care, dentistry, dermatology, integrative medicine, internal medicine, neurology, oncology, ophthalmology, radiology, rehabilitation, reproduction, and surgery.
