Local Medical Issues

There are numerous local issues that can impact your pet's health, and that require your attention over the entire year. For example, there is heartworm disease, which can affect both cats and dogs. It is transmitted by mosquitoes, which thrive in our region, and is therefore a serious cause for concern. The winter temperatures do not get cold enough here to kill mosquito eggs, making heartworm disease a year-round risk.

Likewise with the potential for flea and tick infestation, or intestinal parasites, each of which poses a problem in any season.

Finally, contrary to what you would expect, allergies are a year-round issue. Many pets suffer from skin and ear allergies. Signs include scratching, redness in the ears and scaly skin.

We would be happy to address any of your concerns regarding these conditions.
Accreditations & Affiliations
American Animal Hospital Association

The American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) sets the standard for quality veterinary care for companion animals. As an accredited hospital, we voluntarily uphold the Association's high standards in 18 different areas and are routinely evaluated on over 900 different standards of veterinary care. Not all animal hospitals are accredited, and we are proud to be amongst only 12-15% of veterinary hospitals that hold this honor.
