VCA Wickaboag Animal Hospital

Jay Katz, DVM, Associate Veterinarian

DVM, Tufts University

Dr. Jay Katz grew up outside of Boston in Newton. After receiving a B.A. in Philosophy and Religion from Boston University, Dr. Katz’s passion for animals changed the course of his life. After taking the prerequisites for veterinary school, Dr. Katz received his DVM from Tufts’ Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine graduating in 2013.
During veterinary school, Dr. Katz’s varied interests drove him to be part of the international veterinary medicine certificate program. As part of this program, Dr. Katz performed blood pressure research on Elephants in Nepal, disease surveillance on wild pigs in Peru and participated in spay and neuter clinics in India and the Galapagos.
Dr. Katz believes the best part of veterinary medicine is helping not only animals, but the people that love them. Dr. Katz’s special interests include surgery, exotics, international work and petting every dog he sees – the latter making him very hard to walk with on nice days. He currently shares his apartment with an Old English Sheep Dog named Max and a Ball Python named Ka.
