Christopher Smith, VMD, Medical Director

Biography

Dr. Christopher Smith joined our team in 2013 and recently stepped into the role of Medical Director. Dr. Smith has a diverse background with includes general practice along with emergency medicine.

Dr. Smith graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1992. After graduation he initially worked as an associate veterinarian before accepting a position as Medical Director at VCA Detwiler Animal Hospital in Reading, PA between 1998 and 2009. During this time he also worked on a part time basis, intermittent basis doing emergency and critical care at West Chester Animal Hospital in West Chester, PA and Berks Animal Emergency Center in Reading, PA. Dr. Smith has spent the last four years as the Medical Director of Emergency Services at Valley Central Veterinary Referral and Emergency Center in Whitehall, PA.

He served as president of the Schuylkill Valley Veterinary Medical Association from 2004 - 2007. Dr. Smith has also served as an alternate trustee to the PVMA for the last 6 years.

In his free time, Dr. Smith enjoys spending time with his family and smallmouth bass fishing on the Susquehanna and Delaware Rivers.
