    Rayna Faumuina, RVT, CVPM
    School: Michigan State University, BS

    Rayna Faumuina was born and raised in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. After moving to San Diego she eventually made her way out to Michigan State University on a full ride athletic scholarship for field hockey. She graduated in 1998 with a BS in Wildlife Ecology and Management. She started working at her first veterinary position as a receptionist in 1999. After being promoted to an assistant she then had the drive to become an RVT. After a short time she became an RVT and Technician Supervisor of a primarily exotic practice in Northern California. Then in 2002 she transferred to a sister hospital in Los Angeles. She quickly worked her way up to Hospital Manager and Technician Supervisor of a 3 doctor practice where she then wanted to add more challenges to her plate. She transferred to VCA’s flagship hospital, VCA West Los Angeles Animal Hospital in 2005 as the Hospital Manager. Rayna has been with VCA WLA for eight years where she achieved her CVPM designation. As a certified veterinary practice manager she currently tries to juggle many hats. She enjoys the everyday unexpected challenges of being the Hospital Administrator in a brand new state-of-the art medical facility.

    Rayna loves to spend her free time with her husband and son and their English Bulldog named Puka, their overweight cat Franklin and their California desert tortoise named Tug.

    Kathryn Egner

    Kathryn Egner is a Co-Office Manager at VCA West Los Angeles Animal Hospital. She started working in the Veterinary field as a Senior in High School. She completed OCROP (Orange County Regional Occupational Program) to become a Veterinary Assistant and worked at several Hospitals as both Front Office and Back Office staff in the Orange County area. While enjoying the technical side of hospitals, she really preferred helping the owners more directly and moved to the front office permanently. She was hired at our hospital as a phone operator in June of 2006, eventually becoming the phone operator lead and then moving to office management in 2011.

    Kathryn has two nieces and two nephews who are the light of her life, and she enjoys spending her spare time with them. They frequent Disneyland and “Jurassic Park” (Prehistoric Pets Zoo and Rescue) in Fountain Valley. Kathryn also enjoys line dancing, horseback riding, camping and hiking. She has three pets at home, Mauby (a Miniature Australian Shepherd who is a trash compactor), Sulley (an English Yellow Lab who thinks he is a tiny Yorkie), and Chomper (a Red Eared Slider (turtle) who believes he is a dog).

    Melissa Gillett

    Melissa began working for VCA West Los Angeles Animal Hospital in October 2003, directly after graduating from Pharmacy School at United Education Institute. She is now head of the Pharmacy department, supervising the day-to-day operations. Her duties include, but are not limited to, filling medication refill requests, answering clients’ questions regarding their pets’ medications, filling our Cubex machines, and assisting clients at check out.

    In her spare time Melissa loves spending time with her husband Jerrell, two boys Jerrell Jr. and Jayden, and her furry daughter, Ivory (her Malti-Poo). They love playing baseball together, going to the beach or trying out different restaurants!
