Caring for pets... and their people, too.

Now open seven days, we offer a full range of services for cats, dogs, small mammals, reptiles, birds, and fish. Although most clients come from Lynnfield, Melrose, Reading, Saugus, Stoneham, Wakefield, and Woburn, many drive up from Boston or down from New Hampshire to see one of our eight doctors.  We offer wellness care, treat diseases and injuries, and perform complex dental procedures and surgeries. Typical dentals include cleaning and polishing, full-mouth digital x-rays, and -- if necessary -- extractions. We also provide pharmaceutical products and pet foods, and acupuncture is available by appointment.

VCA Wakefield Animal Hospital is an accredited member of the American Animal Hospital Association, an honor awarded to fewer than 12% of North American veterinary hospitals. To maintain our accreditation, AAHA conducts regular inspections to ensure that we maintain the highest standards in patient care,

New to VCA?

We provide veterinary services for every stage in your pet's life, from her first shots to a lifetime of preventive care to keep her happy and healthy.

Our services don't end at our hospital doors.  As a member of the VCA family, our veterinarians have access to extensive medical resources, not the least of which is the VCA knowledge base, which allows our doctors to tap into the collected knowledge of over 2,000 VCA veterinarians.

And if your pet ever needs truly advanced veterinary care, VCA Specialty Hospitals are ready to help.  These twenty-eight clinics provide state-of-the-art care in orthopedic surgery, physical therapy, advanced oncology, and even such cutting-edge treatments as stem cell therapy.

Our local specialty hospital is VCA South Shore Animal Hospital in Weymouth.  They are open 24/7 for emergencies, and they have specialists in internal medicine, ophthalmology, neurology, emergency medicine, and cardiology.

The friendly, professional staff at VCA Wakefield Animal Hospital is made up of dedicated individuals who have made it their mission to help pets live long, healthy lives. To be true to this mission, the hospital team relies on several individuals. Each team member is equally important in helping us deliver the best patient and client experience for both you and your pet.

Our staff enjoys all kinds of pets. Be sure to peek into Exam Room 3 to see a wide and varied gallery of their personal avian, canine, equine, feline, reptilian, small mammal, and aquatic pets!

Thank you for your care and kindness toward us....
Arlene L. Mazochia from Everett

I rescued Meisha from a shelter and Tennessee when she was 10 weeks old. We sought care from VCA Wakefield since the day I took her home. The thorough care that she received and the education for her well being that I received was utterly amazing! We saw several vets over the years, and they were all compassionate, kind, gentle, extremely intelligent, and very informative. My baby passed away a couple of months ago, and it was devastating for me. I called Dr. Pelletier because I felt as if it were my fault, as I am sure many of us that lose our animals do. Dr. Pelletier's words to me were the most kind, compassionate, healing words that I have ever heard. She consoled me beyond belief. Her compassion, understanding, and personal touch, helped me to find the peace that I desperately needed. Thank you VCA for everything. I have since adopted my foster dog Gino, and we look forward to our first appointment at VCA, so Gino can meet the wonderful, amazing staff, who always treat us and our pets, as family.
