VCA Veterinary Care Animal Hospital and Referral Center

Dawn S. Nolan, DVM, Medical Director

DVM, Texas A&M University

Biography

Dr. Nolan arrived in Albuquerque for the Medical Director position at VCA Veterinary Care Animal Hospital in February of 2007. Dr. Nolan is originally from Connecticut and lived there until joining the US Navy out of high school.

After being honorably discharged from the US Navy, Dr. Nolan spent a brief period of time using her undergraduate degree of accounting before deciding that returning to school for a different career was what she longed to do. She moved to Texas, finished up her prerequisites for Veterinary Medicine, and graduated from Texas A & M College of Veterinary Medicine in College Station, Texas in 1997. She practiced at another VCA hospital in Dallas, Texas for 8 years before coming to Albuquerque.

Dr. Nolan sees exclusively small animals (cats and dogs). She divides her work time between her Medical Director leadership position and seeing patients. Her Medical Director position allows her to provide a vision for the General Practice.

Dr. Nolan's main focus for the General Practice is to provide preventative medicine for our patients. Early detection of disease provides the opportunity to improve the quality of life of any pet. This includes, of course, all aspects of general medicine and surgery. She feels the practice is well equipped to provide any services your pet could need from puppyhood to geriatrics. Dr. Nolan looks forward to meeting each one of you to see how we can better meet both your needs and the needs of your pet.

Dr. Nolan lives in the NE Heights with her husband, Stephen, and 4 cats: Sabu, Toulouse, Jasmine, and Malia. In her spare time, she enjoys the beautiful New Mexico sunshine, visiting the zoo and museums, gardening, and reading historical fiction.
