Biography
Dr. Kompel grew up in Emerson a small town in northern New Jersey. She graduated with a BS in biology from Fairleigh Dickinson University in 1999 and from there traveled to the United Kingdom to complete her veterinary studies. A 5year veterinary program at the University of London’s Royal Veterinary College in England was completed in 2004. Ever since graduating vet school she’s been a small animal practitioner in New Jersey concentrating on dogs and cats.Prior to joining the our team, Dr. Kompel worked for a small animal practice in her hometown. She took part in rescue and feral cat programs such as the grey hound rescue and FOCAS (Friends of the Bergen County Animal Shelter). She spent about 3 years at the Emerson Animal Hospital before making her move to southern NJ.
She now lives in Burlington County with her dog Hendon and five furry kids; her cats Owen, Tom, Sophie, Sabras and Clark. Owen is a purebred classic silver tabby British short hair from England. Tom is a rescue from the FOCAS program. Sophie is a rescue from an animal shelter and Clark was adopted through Vetco’s VAF program.
When not practicing veterinary medicine Dr. Kompel enjoys traveling, cooking, and reading. She’s walked the Great Wall of China and made her way to the top of the Masada in Israel.
