Veterinary AssistantSnow Qu
Veterinary Tech School: Kaplan College
Snow was another staff member who came to us in the summer of 2013. Snow graduated in March 2014, from Kaplan College, with an associate's degree in veterinary technology. She is now eligible to sit for the national exam, that upon passing, will make her a certified veterinary technician! It has been a childhood dream of Snow's to work with animals for a living; which is understandable since she has a total of 13 pets at home! Her favorite part of being a veterinary assistant is helping our doctors with exams, drawing blood, and dispensing the necessary medications to help pets get and stay healthy. We appreciate all of Snow's hard work since her hiring and we are excited to cheer her on as she moves forward in her career in veterinary medicine!
Veterinary AssistantJay Randall
Veterinary Tech School: Pima Medical Institute
Jay joined the TriCity team in July 2013 after completing her externship for the Veterinary Technician program at Pima Medical Institute. She graduated in November of 2013 and is now spending most of her time studying and preparing to take her state and national exams to become a certified veterinary technician. Her motivation for entering the veterinary field was for a chance to help the less fortunate animals in our shelter systems. She is a strong advocate of the work VCA does along with the Arizona Humane Society. Jay is interested in obtaining further certification for behavior training and is also interested in veterinary holistic practices. She currently shares her home with 4 dogs of her own and at times can have foster dogs as well! We are happy to have Jay as a part of our team and are excited to see her advance in the veterinary field!
Veterinary AssistantApril Rogers
Veterinary Tech School: Pima Medical Institute
April started her career as a Veterinary Assistant when she graduated, with honors from Pima Medical Institue in 2011. That same year, she completed her externship with TriCity and was then offered a position at another hospital where she worked for one year. We were lucky to have her return to us as an official employee in the summer of 2012. She has been advancing within the practice ever since and is a strong assest to our team. April has mastered anesthesia monitoring as well as executing dental cleanings and dental radiography. She also has a strong interest in post-operative care and emergency medicine. Her daily motivation lies in forming and maintaining the relationships we have with clients and their pets. April shares her home with 2 dogs, 3 cats and enjoys spending her free time with friends and family. As of September 2014, April has decided to stay within the VCA family, but has taken a position working as an emergency techinician at VCA Paradise Valley Emergency in Scottsdale. She will be missed by our staff and clients, but we wish her much luck and success as she moves on to this new endeavor within the veterinary field!
Veterinary AssistantAshley Sherling
School: Mesa Community College
Ashley was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona; she joins Shanna as another one of our Arizona natives. Ashley has been in the veterinary field since 2003 and joined the VCA TriCity family in 2005. She attended Mesa Community College for 2 years and would like to go back to school in order to become a certified veterinary technician. Within the veterinary field, she would especially like to learn more about radiographic interpretation and digital radiography in general. We hope to facilitate more of this for her once at our new hospital at the end of the year! Ashley's favorite part of her job is being able to witness the human/ animal bond our clients share with their pets. She currently shares her home with her 2 cats: Poe and Eric Roberts and enjoys attending concernts in her spare time.
Veterinary AssistantJulie Sorensen
Julie joined the Tri City team in March 2014 after completing her externship and graduating with a certificate in veterinary assisting. After starting with VCA, she has really seen how much the veterinary field has turned into a great career option for her. She finds all aspects of the field interesting and is always curious to be learning more; she hopes one day to return to school to graduate as a veterinary technician. Julie is extremely passionate about patient care, specifically after surgeries, as well as other accidents and/or traumas that our clients' pets may be subject to. She has personal experience spending time in a hospital and it is because of that experience that she strives to make both pets and their owners comfortable and well informed about what is going on. In her spare time she enjoys painting, cooking, and spending time with her daughter. She loves being outside as much as possible - weather permitting! - she is our one and only staff member that commutes to work by bicycle!
