Steve grew up on a small dairy farm in northern Minnesota where he was surrounded by animals all his life. He received his fashion merchandising degree from Pipestone Area Vocation Technical Institute, in Minnesota. He soon grew tired of the snow and cold and moved to the west coast. He and his partner Ren currently reside in Hollywood with their two cats Painter and Peaches. Both of Steve's kitties came from VCA-TLC where Steve has a difficult time not wanting to take home every stray that comes in. Outside of work, Steve is an avid reader of mysteries and culinary exploration.
Cherie was born and raised in sunny San Diego, California. After graduating high school she studied abnormal psychology and criminal justice at Grossmont College.
She moved to Los Angeles 3 years ago and found her real love working in the veterinary field and is hoping to pursue a career in animal behavior and veterinary nursing. When not working as a receptionist, she is busy as our adoption coordinator, helping to find homes for the VCA TLC rescue animals.
Cherie is an avid reader, a movie and television buff and has a strange love for the mustache. She has two terrier rescues that go by "Tribble" and "The
Doctor" and one adorable chinchilla by the name of "Squishy".

Angel is a receptionist at VCA TLC, and when she is not at the hospital, she is working on completing her Masters Degree in Food and Nutritional Science at California State University, Los Angeles.
Angel grew up Tulare, California and attended California Polytechnic State University, where she received a B.S. in Environmental Horticultural Science. This choice of study has led her to several opportunities in the field of horticulture; In 1999 she did an advanced internship at Walt Disney World Animal Kingdom, and in 2003 she received an assistantship at Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, to study Soil Science with a concentration in Organic Agriculture.
In addition to spending time with her very fluffy, lilac point Himalayan named "Wintress", Angel enjoys gardening, Bikram yoga, visiting cemeteries and reading.
Her professional interests include organic agriculture, whole foods and macrobiotics.
Melissa joined VCA TLC in 2008. Growing up in Michigan, animals were always a part of her life. She finds working with animals and their pet parents very rewarding. She is also very interested in animal behavior and would like to pursue a career in the future either as an animal or child behaviorist.
In her free time Melissa enjoys photography, traveling, reading, writing and spending time with her loved ones, especially her two dogs, Eskimo and Baily and other four legged kinds.
Tim Rathke, a Northern Illinois native, is a receptionist here at VCA TLC. He has been an actor/performer since the age of 6. However, he found his passion for our little friend outweighed the stereotypical "actor/waiter" lifestyle. So, Tim danced his way into our doors in 2006, and he has been entertaining our patients, clients, and staff ever since.
Currently awaiting his BIG BREAK, he can also occasionally be seen making the masses laugh as a stand-up comedian. VCA-TLC has also brought him his first voice over gig as our infamous recorded greeting! His other interests include music, piano, dance, and culinary exploration.
It brings him much joy to help provide comfort and happiness to our companions and their owners.
China started out her career with animal by volunteering at a small animal hospital in the valley as well as the West Valley Animal Shelter. Her experience took her to caring for pets at a busy doggy day care in Studio City where she was able to work more closely with pets and their owners. We were lucky to have China join our team at VCA TLC in 2010 as a receptionist and technician assistant. China loves working with the animals at VCA TLC and helping to make them happy and healthy. China is currently enrolled in Los Angeles Pierce College and planning to enter the veterinary technology program very soon.
