 Dr. Pete DeTolve graduated with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2007. Upon graduating from veterinary school, Dr. Pete was accepted into an internship program at VCA Sacramento Veterinary Referral Center where he practiced for an intense year under the guidance and supervision of board certified specialists. After completion of his internship, he moved to Colorado where he practiced as a daytime emergency veterinarian at VCA Douglas County Animal Hospital. Dr. Pete takes special interest in emergency medicine, surgery, and dentistry.  He was given the award for Excellence in Medical Directing by VCA in 2014.  He serves on the Denver Area Veterinary Medical Society (DAVMS) Board as the North Area Director and actively participates in the Colorado Veterinary Medical Association (CVMA).  During winter, he hosts a monthly ski / snowboarding day for members of our veterinary community at a local ski area.  He and is wife are the proud owners of five dogs (Whiskey Business Jones, Small Man, Ana Petunia, Georgina Sue, and Hans), and two cats (Zoomina and Smat). He enjoys spending time with his wife, is an avid snowboarder and year-round fly fisherman, who ties his own flies, and practices catch-and-release.  Generally, Dr. Pete enjoys anything that has to do with the outdoors.  He and his wife share the care of an impressive garden in their backyard.
