Hospital ManagerClara Black
Clara was born in Brooklyn, NY. Her family relocated to the Bay Area when she was 9 years old. As a child, she aspired to be an artist and was always drawing cats, dogs, horses, cows, and mice. Opal, the family cat, was portrayed with 16 neon claws on each paw! She then turned her interests towards veterinary medicine, volunteering at the Oakland SPCA and Berkeley Humane Society as a teenager. Clara earned her B.S. in Zoology from Colorado State in 2007. She spent a few years working as a veterinary assistant and receptionist at a cat clinic in Brooklyn, then moved back to the Bay Area and worked as a veterinary assistant, providing care to cats, dogs, reptiles, rodents, and rabbits. In 2010, Clara changed her focus from patient care to client service and veterinary hospital management. She is excited to be a part of the VCA Tender Care Animal Hospital team. Clara currently lives in San Francisco with her 12 year old Boston terrier mix, Radio, who comes to work with her almost every day. For fun, they like to go to the beach or go hiking. Their favorite day of the year is Dog Day at the Oakland A’s!
