Certified Veterinary TechnicianRebecca Choquette
Rebecca's interest in veterinary medicine began when she attended the Adventures in Veterinary Medicine program at Tufts University Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at the age of 12. In 2002, Rebecca began working in the veterinary medical field as a kennel nurse. She graduated from Clark University in 2008 with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a minor in Biology as part of a pre-veterinary program.
In 2008, Rebecca was welcomed to the VCA Sterling family and advanced to the position of Veterinary Technician. We are very proud of Rebecca's dedication to professional development and life-long learning as exemplified in her earning licensure as a Certified Veterinary Technician in December of 2013. Rebecca is a proud member of the Massachusetts Veterinary Technician Association (MVTA).
Rebecca's responsibilities include surgical assistance and patient monitoring, in-patient and post-op patient care, client communications and maintaining our laboratory supply inventory. As a senior technician, she also assists in training our new staff members. Rebecca enjoys her role in supporting our patients' families, educating and helping them to manage the treatment plans and long term care of their companion animals.
When not working, Rebecca enjoys competing in adventure races, reading, hiking with her dog, and spending quiet time at home with her fiance and their daughter Maddie.
"I truly love what I do and I love coming to work every day. Being able to work with such a dedicated, compassionate team is amazing."

Veterinary Tech School: Becker College
A 2016 graduate from Becker College, Emily recently earned her Associate's Degree in Veterinary Technology and we could not be prouder of her! Emily first came to VCA Sterling as a Student Extern over the summer of 2015 as part of her studies at Becker College and, upon completion, joined our staff as a Veterinary Assistant.
Emily has grown up around animals, which is where her interest in animal care began. She has worked on a farm caring for sheep, horses, ducks, chickens, and a variety of other animals.. When not working, Emily likes to spend free time with her friends and family. She enjoys spending time outdoors going on hikes, fishing and boating.
In 2007, Melanie earned her Associates Degree in Animal Care from Becker College. She interned at VCA Sterling in 2006 as part of her studies.
Melanie's mother was a veterinary technician at the Clinic for 13 years, making Melanie an honorary family member long before she officially joined the team. Growing up, her family included many of the four-legged variety, as abandoned animals would often be brought home for care. Her strong connection to animals and desire to care for them led her to a career in the veterinary profession.
Melanie is responsible for prescription diet inventory management and client correspondence, as well as patient care and surgical suite preparation.
In her free time, Melanie enjoys being with her family at the lake; swimming, sailing, sledding and ice fishing.
"Everyone at VCA Sterling is so friendly and helpful! The supportive staff made me feel very comfortable with my new role at the clinic."
