VCA Squire Animal Hospital

Dr. Monica Maa, DVM, Associate Veterinarian

DVM, Cornell University

Biography

Dr. Maa was born and raised in St. Louis, MO. At an early age she developed a great love for animals and a desire to become an animal doctor as soon as she could pronounce the word “veterinarian”! She attended Rockhurst University in Kansas City, MO where she received a BS in Biology. She went on to Cornell University’s College of Veterinary Medicine and received her DVM degree in 2000.

After veterinary school, Dr. Maa worked at a small animal practice in Chicago, IL. She later moved to Washington, DC and further developed her skills at a busy small animal and exotics practice in Montgomery County, MD. After a two-year stint in rural Mississippi due to her husband’s employment, Dr. Maa and her family returned to the Washington, DC area. Shortly thereafter she joined the team at VCA Squire Animal Hospital.

Dr. Maa’s professional interests include dentistry, medicine and surgery of exotic small mammals (rabbits, ferrets, and rodents), and ultrasonography. At home she enjoys cooking, reading, and spending time with her family. She lives in Prince George’s County with her husband, two beautiful daughters, two dogs, and one cat.
