The Best of the Best-Lisa from Staten Island, NY
Pet Name: Desi
Since Dr. Pararello took over this hospital, it couldn't be better. Nothing compares to the peace of mind knowing that this hospital is open 24 hours a day-7days a week.. no more running the over priced NJ hospitals. Dr. Panarello is more than fair & has a genuine love for animals. It's not all about the money with him! Him & Dr. Clemente took amazing care of my cat over the last 3 weeks. I wouldn't go anywhere else.
Thumbs up-Mona Popkin from Staten Island, NY
Pet Name: Spike
The most caring staff and the most caring doctors. My pet Spike has a blood disorder called AIT, he is only four years old and it already has returned for a second time. Needless to say I was a mess the first time around but because of their knowledge and patience and willing to give the family the information they need to learn I feel I am more prepared this time around and a lot calmer. I will be forever grateful to Mary Grace for always being there for me early in the a.m. and always knowing what to say. I will always be grateful for Doctor Clemente's expertise and never giving up on Spike. There should be more animal care service like South Shore. Sincerely, Mona Popkin.
Doctor Panarello-Harriet and Les Shaffer from Barnegat, NJ
When we saw Dr. Panarello's name in theNYPost in an article about him saving a pit bull who got shot protecting his owner, we knew it was the same doctor who saved our cat Dayzee's life over 15 years ago. We will never forget him. Not only did he diagnose and treat a lupus-like arthritic condition she developed, but he found a cancerous tumor in her neck which would have killed her had it not been removed. She was 8 years old when diagnosed and we enjoyed loving her until she passed away in 2007 at the age of 19. If we were not living almost 70 miles away, we'd bring our rescue cat Tinkerbelle to him for her care. He is our hero.
great service-Happy Dog Lady from Staten Island, NY

Help when I needed it-Kim from Staten Island, NY
One Saturday morning I found a stray, feral cat in my driveway. This cat was obviously not well and needed medical assistance. I called South Shore and they advised me to call animal care and control. Well after being on hold for over an hour I called South Shore back for more advice. The staff advised me to try and catch the cat and bring him/her in for medical help. I was able to get a neighbor to help me get the cat and place it in a box. The staff at South Shore said they would take the cat and take care of it free of charge. Unfortunately the cat needed to be euthanized.
I am so grateful to South Shore Hospital for helping this dying animal as well as myself (an animal lover who did not know what to do). It's nice to know that the staff that treats my animals are there for animals who do not have anyone to care for them. Thank you so much.
Bogey was treated so kindly-The Jaccoi Family from Staten Island, NY
Pet Name: Bogey
I want to thank all the doctors and staff at SSAH. They were so great while helping my little boy Bogey for 6 weeks when he was ill. The doctors there were always willing to discuss Bogey's condition at all hours of the day and night. Very compassionate, loving, caring and kind bunch of doctors and staff at the hospital. Unfortunately, Bogey passed away after we tried every last thing we could to save him. The doctors and techs were honest with my husband and I about Bogey's condition and they advised us as to what was best for my little boy. After Bogey's passing, I received a sympathy card in the mail and enclosed was a piece of Bogey's hair wrapped in gauze and 3 Rainbow Bridge cards each with Bogey's paw print (one from each paw) on the back. This was so heart warming, loving and kind to think of us and our little boy in such a way. I want to thank you all at the Hospital for your kind ways and if ever I have another pet I will always come to you for your care. With love, the Jaccoi Family
Queenie-mary williams from staten island, NY
Pet Name: Queenie
My baby-Queenie (Chihuahua) had multiple teeth extracted a week ago by her regular Vet. She was doing very well until May 20th. She started vomiting X2-clear liquid, as the day progressed she became lethargic & by late afternoon started having loose bowel movements. At 2 am may 21st, she woke me up panting. She had a bowel movement that was bloody & became very unsteady on her feet. I called South Shore Animal Hospital & spoke with Dr. Tusa. He said I aould bring her right in. So I did. He took her right in examined her & said she was dehydrated W/possible gastroenteritis. He suggested re-hydrating her and an antibiotic. He was so caring & gentle Queenie let him do whatever he wanted to her (which is no small feat-Queenie doesn't take well to strangers). I am very grateful for South Shore Hospital's 24/7 availability. A great necessity on Staten Island, otherwise you sent to N.J. or Bklyn. no one wants to search for a Vet when their in a panic with a sick pet. Thank you Dr. Tusa & South Shore Animal Hospital for being there in our time of need. I will recommend you to everyone I know.
Honest-Cami Camello from staten island, NY
Pet Name: Noodles
I have been using South Shore for 14 years, as long as I have been living on S.I. I only request Dr. Hines to treat my Poodle. Noodles is now 15 years old. All of the doctors and staff are warm and caring, however, what I like about Dr. Hines is his honesty. He does not push unnecessary vaccines or examinations just to make a buck. Hard to find that these days even in "human" doctors. Thanks!
Place of Compassion-Helen T from Staten Island, NY
Pet Name: Kitty
I became an owner of a Kitten that I took care of for two weeks that was very ill. I went to Banfield for help on how to take care of the Kitten and they treated me and the Kitten like a business. They did not want to give her a chance or any treatment options. When the Kitten was so sick that she had to be put down, I did not have the heart to bring her to Banfield so I brought her here. The doctor treated me and the Kitten with such kindness and compassion, it made the whole ordeal easier. I have three other pets and from now on, I will only go here for all their treatment.
