Biography

Dr. Michael Bernstein joined the staff at VCA South Shore Animal Hospital in 2004. He obtained his DVM degree from The New York State Veterinary College at Cornell University in 1971, and then completed an internship at Angell Memorial Animal Hospital in Boston. After his internship, he joined the staff at Angell, where he became Director of Clinics in 1974 and Department Head of Medicine in 1987. He also held appointments as Adjunct Assistant Professor of Medicine at The University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine from 1976 until 1981, and as Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine from 1981 until 1997.Dr. Bernstein became Board Certified in Internal Medicine by The American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine in 1981. Over the years, he has contributed to many publications, and has been an invited lecturer at numerous continuing education seminars, both nationally and internationally.

In addition to over 34 years of experience as a small animal internist, Dr. Bernstein brings with him significant expertise in hospital management. He has a special interest in feline medicine and is available to see referral appointments.
