Melanie has been a Veterinary Technician since 1998, spending most of that time at VCA South Hadley Animal Hospital and becoming manager in 2008. She was Senior Zookeeper at The Zoo in Forest Park and gained a lot of experience in exotic/wild animal handling and care. She has also received her Certificate in Phlebotomy in 2004 and did human phlebotomy part time at an out-patient lab, which gave her excellent phlebotomy skills on animals. Melanie attended the Veterinary Technician program at Holyoke Community College, and also worked at VCA Boston Road Animal Hospital as an Emergency/Referral Technician for three years. In her spare time, she enjoys canoeing, hiking, fishing, going to the beach, playing bass, watching the Patriots, as well as spending time with her husband, two daughters, and her tuxedo cat, Takoda.
