The BEST-Mike Adams from Gordonville, PA
Pet Name: Daisy Deuce
My first experience with Smoketown was this past January ( 2013) when, sadly, I had to bring my 13 year old Choco Lab, Lexi to be euthanized. I had recently moved to the local area after 25 years in Lititz.
The compassion shown by the staff was exceptional! Having been a Funeral Director the past 20 years, and a Paramedic prior, I could immediately tell that this staff truly believed in what they did, and that alone was a comfort. A few days later, I received a heartfelt hand written note from Dr. Herr regarding the loss of Lexi... this pat weekend, I had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Urban. My Puggle, Daisy was having recurrent ear infection problems, and again, witnessing true CARING professionals at work, I am happy to suggest VCA Smoketown to anyone who may ask! Many thanks from Crybaby-Kimberly from Lancaster, PA
Pet Name: Crybaby
Would just like to take a moment to say thank you for the kind, compassionate treatment my beloved Crybaby Cat received today from Dr. Sarah Urban and the staff at VCA. Sadly, my cat was terminally ill, and needed to be put down. While awaiting diagnosis, Dr. Urban had called to check on Crybaby at home, and offered suggestions to try to get him to eat. We honestly could not have asked for a more loving doctor to care for our cherished kitty, and when it was time to say goodbye, we knew he was in great hands. Thank you Dr. Urban.

Thank you Smoketown Animal Hospital! Your Staff is the most Professional and Caring Staff that I have ever experienced. You can feel the love that your Staff has for the animals. There is always someone to talk to when you call and have a concern, and the Office wait is never long. You are there and prepared for emergencies...but calm and encouraging. To anyone that needs Vet Care..Smoketown is the best. They have literally helped me save a puppy as well as helped big time with the care of our pets (even when I was so stressed I should have drove the Staff crazy). Love this place!
Thank You-Midge from Lancaster, PA
Pet Name: Maxwell
When you leave your pet in the hands of others you want only the best treatment. Maxwell has had that treatment over the past five years at Smoketown Animal Hospital. The entire staff has provided expert medical attention with a very personal touch. Max has not only received medical care but he vacations at the hospital and we know he is not neglected at all...as a matter of fact he is spoiled by his caregivers. We are grateful for everything that has been done for Max and we look forward to continuing with their services in the future. On behalf of Max, thank you.
Boots-Mr Huff from Manheim, PA
Pet Name: Boots
I want to extend my thanks to the entire staff of VCA Smoketown starting with the girls out front to the doctor's and their assistants for the kind & considerate care of my wonderful little companion "Boots". I want to thank Dr Jaeger for the successful surgery of a dreaded disease (Cancer), that enabled me to have a couple more months with "Boots".
I also want to thank Dr Battah for his role in attempting to find a solution to make life more comfortable for "Boots".
Then there was Dr Shellenberger, that offered his services by phone and in person if needed and for his concern for my companion "Boots" I thank him.
On the final day Dr Herr took time from her busy schedule to confirm the horrible decision I had to make which gave my most wonderful companion eternal peace.
The memories of "Boots" will always be with me and my love for her will never fade. For everyone at VCA Smoketown I say once again, Thank you, Thank you.
Hardest Day Ever-Michelle Bartholomew from Denver, PA
Pet Name: Hachi
On Tuesday I had the unfortunate opportunity to accompany my good friend and her 3 yr GSP, Hachi into your office. During a hike at Middlecreek, Hachi developed bloat. We immediately called his vet, Peaceable Kingdom in Ephrata and they referred us to you, due to their inability to care for him at that moment. I knew that his chances weren't good since we were not that close, but we rushed there anyway. Unfortunately Hachi passed away within minutes of the office. This was so devastating for Julie and myself, but the compassion and care that your vets and staff (I'm sorry, I don't remember any of their names) had showed us was awesome. Even though this was a shock and loss that we will feel for a long time, you compassion helped us during this difficult time. Thank you!
Caring and skilled staff-Kelly Psiuk from Malvern, PA
Pet Name: CHIP, PIXEL and the feathered crew
I have been using Smoketown Vet Hosp for our featherd and fur-baby care since 1989 and can honestly say we have never had a bad experience there (although poor Dr. Hall has seen me cry one too many times when we inevitably loose one of our babies... but it's nice to be in a familiar setting and surrounded by people you are comfortable with when going through such a loss). We drive 45 minutes in each direction to see them and consider Dr. Hall and staff as family. We are forever grateful for their expert and compassionate care. Thanks... love you guys!
Thank You-Shannon, Brandon and Lenny from Lancaster, PA
Pet Name: Lenny
We adopted a dog and he became very ill within a day or two of the adoption. We got in with an urgent last minute appointment which we really appreciated. It ultimately saved Lenny's life because he had contracted parvo. Through out the whole treatment we were frequently updated on his condition and the costs. Any time we called, our call was returned within minutes. After he came home with us (with perfect instructions) we received calls from Dr. Herr and the team asking how he was doing.
I've never taken a pet to a vet as caring, professional and wonderful as VCA Smoketown. There are no surprises with costs as they are very upfront about them and helping you keep the bill within a reasonable amount while still treating your pet with the best care possible.
Just extending our biggest thank you to Dr. Herr and the team who helped our pup. We will be switching all of our pets to VCA Smoketown.
Thank You-Jeff and Barb from Mount Wolf, PA
Pet Name: Ella
Barb and I own Ella, a year and eight month old Newfoundland. She began to hobble and limp in pain after running and playing when she was a little over a year old. We found out from Dr. Gayle Jaeger at Smoketown that she had to have shoulder OCD surgery on both of her front shoulders. Dr Jaeger and the team, everyone, at Smoketown Vet did an incredible job. Dr. Jaeger was wonderful, understanding, kind to Ella, professional, skilled, patient and a great surgeon based on the awesome results. Ella now runs and swims - she's a Newfie! she swims and swims and swims and swims! and plays and chases and now at full speed and with great ease. We're looking forward to years and years of great companionship and activity. The care and friendliness and skilled and persistently achieving rehabilitation team headed up by Dr. Sarah Urban was fantastic - Ella was excited to go there every time it was rehab day - they treated Ella like a star - and even sent home a silly picture of Ella just because they were enjoying spending time helping her recover. The administrative staff was wonderful from accurate reasonable estimates to working with our vet insurance company to handling Care Credit to efficient appointments and kind effective service. Their prices were reasonable and the service and result and attitude and ability were five star. I would recommend them to anyone with a pet needing surgery. They were a blessing. Thanks to all of them.
Thank you Dr. Hall-Bender Family from Elizabethtown, PA
Pet Name: Alex
Alex is our beautiful 6 year old golden retriever. Seven months ago he started sneezing. Five months ago his nose started to bleed occasionally with sneezing and constant runny nose. Our local vet took x-rays, gave antibiotics and a calming pill. The x-rays were read and we were told it probably was sinus cancer or less likely a fungal infection. What a disheartening shock! Some internet searches strongly suggested a fungal infection which lead us to Dr. Hall. After more X-rays, we told it was probably cancer or maybe a small chance fungal. Dr. Hall agreed to do a rhinoscopy and fungal treatment as long as he found no cancer. The call and biopsies came back and indeed it was a fungal infection!! Alex had the treatment three and a half weeks ago and no longer has a sore muzzle. He no longer looks like Niagra Falls running from his nose with pink discoloration! He is back to eating regular food and chasing his fetchy toy relentlessly! Thank you so much Dr. Hall for trusting our instincts and caring for Alex! Job well done! Thank You Sincerely - the Bender Family
