We are deeply committed to the health and well being of every pet, not just the pets in our care. That is why we work with local shelters to help lost and abandoned animals in our community find new homes.
It isn't just our hospital. The entire family of VCA Animal Hospitals works with shelters and humane societies across the United States to promote successful pet adoptions.
Part of that work is helping you prepare for adopting a pet, because we believe that an informed owner is more likely to adopt the right pet and less likely to return the animal to the shelter. Please feel free to call or visit us for educational information and medical resources that will help you understand the ups and downs of pet adoption.
When you're ready to adopt, please consider adopting an animal from one of the shelters listed below. Together we can make sure your adopted pet has a long, healthy, and happy life.
Operation Scarlet Rescue
Shar Pei Rescue
In February 2013 we partnered with the Lancaster SPCA. The SPCA is a shelter serving Lancaster County Pennsylvania. With all the available means and resources to prevent and alleviate the suffering of animals. The shelter provides humane care and adoptions of stray and unwanted animals who are the result of owner surrender and cruelty investigations. They are a non profit organization who excepts domestic animals from individuals, while primarily being supported through public donations.
As a primary partner of the SPCA, VCA Smoketown Animal Hospital along with VCA Bridgeport Animal Hospital provide each adopted pet with a Healthy Start Certificate that includes a free wellness exam and a 10-day limited health care guarantee.
