Over the recent Veterans Day weekend, the Houston Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) held an adoption special for the homeless animals in the community, the Ultimate Memorial reports.

The goal for the weekend was to place 111 animals in new forever homes. The special was quite remarkable - all animals were up for adoption for $11 to further push the date - 11/11/11. The event ran from Friday November 11 through Sunday November 13.

According to the source, this exceptional deal was valued at more than $400 and involved more than just uniting deserving pet parents with lovable pets. The package also included a complimentary pet health evaluation, initial vaccination and rabies shots for felines aged 3 months and older. Animals were also signed up for spay and neuter surgeries, deworming, microchipping with a free lifetime registration and a free wellness exam within five days after adoption. New pet parents were also gifted with a 14-day follow up care from VCA Animal Hospitals for pets with certain conditions, in an attempt to get potential owners to care for deserving animals who may have been overlooked because of their special needs.
