I have been caring for animals since before I could care for myself. I don't remember a time in my life when my family didn't have a variety of kinds. From fish & frogs to geese & goats. I would even find & care for hurt & abandoned wildlife. Such as baby birds, rabbits, & raccoons. I have now been an employee of the veterinary field for 9 years, over 5 of them here at VCA Royalton Road. It's just what feels right! In this time I have seen & assisted with almost anything you can imagine. However, is still always different, for not one animal is the same. I have had many other opportunities, but my heart belongs in the Kennel. Their's just something about being able to be there for someone else's pet when they can't. Making sure that they stay safe & healthy is a huge relief to that person. I know I could never leave my pets in the care of just anyone. I currently reside with 5 cats; Breena, Luna, Dusty, Charlie, & Nawlins. An almost 3 year old blue nose pit bull, Eeyore. Two lovebirds, Mango & Kiwi, & a turtle called Petey. ALL of my pets are rescues! I love to feed the wild birds, squirrels, & deer, especially in the winter. I care for my family's pets as well when they are away. A black lab, rabbit, guinea pig, chinchilla, 2 parakeets & a turtle. I have even earned enough trust to house sit Chihuahuas for a family that had barely met me. My favorite part of caring for animals has mostly been enrichment. I find it very rewarding to figure out that a special item or a simple blanket can make an animal so happy, & interact in different ways. I also like to create & customize items or even shelter, to meet the specific needs of any animal. I couldn't image my life without animals......simply because I never had to. It is my natural instinct to care for them.
