Technician SupervisorCathy Griffin
I have always had a passion for animals since I was young. I was given the opportunity many years ago to work At VCA Rock Creek...I accepted and ran with it! After more than 20 years I can honestly say that I do what I do, for the patients and the clients. They need me for the good times and the not so good times. I get great satisfaction every day taking care of the pets and working with an exceptional staff!
I started this job as a kennel attendant and loved being able to play an interact with the pets. I was given the opportunity to advance and here I am...a veterinary technician, and I wouldn't want to do anything else! I love the pets and being able to take part in their medical care is extremely satisfying and rewarding. I also would not want to work anywhere else... VCA Rock Creek is my home away from home.
As a child I had 2 cats, until I reached the age of 5 and got my first puppy, who I named "Bandit". He soon became my very best friend and my shadow. Fifteen years later that has not changed, because of his love and affection I decided to give back and came to VCA Rock Creek, I love working with pets and help them have the best possible life.
Growing up in the Caribbean Islands, everyone wanted to either work in the party scene or wok in a prestigious hotel. BUT...not me! At the age of 12, when one of my own pets; Max, had gotten into a fight with the neighbors dog and part of his inner ear was destroyed, it was up to me to clean and wrap the ear. It was then I realized, I was comfortable doing these things, it did not scare me one bit. At that point I knew..I wanted to take care of animals, one day become a veterinarian. I was so thrilled to find an establishment like VCA Rock creek who shares the same passion for pets and who has given me the opportunity to pursue my dream.
Ever since I was a little girl, animals have always been a passion of mine. My family can vouch for that! VCA Rock Creek has given me the opportunity to work in a field that I've dreamed of working in since I was 3. My goal is to one day be a vet (it's a work in progress), so I'm very grateful to be gaining experience. Hopefully I will be able to continue working with pets for a long time.
