THIS IS AN AWESOME VET
-Taylor from richmond, VA
Pet Name: Lexi
I recently adopted a puppy and VCA helped me out so much. They even gave me a free bag of puppy food. The receptionists were so nice and the vet was very helpful and explained everything in detail. They even were great when my landlord called their office before the dog moved in. Lexi didn't even want to leave at the end of her visit because the staff loved on her so much.
Appreciative Beyond Words
-The Brothers' Family from Richmond, VA
One week ago we walked into the VCA clinic in our area. All of the staff including Dr. Alyssa Thompson immediately made us feel at home, loved and attended to. After a series of tests, (and NO answers from a previous vet), Dr. Alyssa Thompson went on a mission to figure out what was wrong with our cat.
Even though the answer came back as a shock that our baby had pancreatic cancer, Dr. Thompson and the ENTIRE staff treated us, barely knowing us, with love, grace and respect. We were shocked at the personal lengths that Dr. Thompson went to, and we found her to be the blessing during this difficult time. We put him down today, and they even stayed open after hours to give us the time to grieve in private. They have gained a permanent client, and we feel blessed to have found this amazing clinic nearby. It has been a comfort from them to deal with this horrible loss. The staff eased this huge heart loss and we are very grateful.

I recently moved here from Florida and I am so thankful to have found VCA Pets First Animal Hospital! I have owned several different species of animals all of my life and I have been to several veterinary hospitals all across the country and the doctors and staff of VCA Pets First are by far the most compassionate and knowledgeable that I have had the pleasure dealing with.

It's been very hard to lose such a great friend, but there is comfort in the knowledge that I had a team who genuinely cared and did all that they could until the very end.

Pet Name: Wilson
My Dog Wilson has been going to VCA Pets First at Staples Mill for years. Last Week, I brought him in due to a blister on one of his paws. I was thoroughly impressed when Dr. Thompson called to follow-up. She was the atypical doctor- talking to me at length and with compassion for a very minor incident. I wanted to say thank you and reiterate how pleased my husband and I are with your veterinarian Dr. Rao and veterinary assistant Jessica have also provided excellent customer service over the years.
Great service and boarding too
-Srinivas Harihar from Richmond, VA
Pet Name: Gundappan
My relationship with Pets First began around beginning of 2004, since then the doctors and hospital staff has always been there to ensure my dear pet Gundappan was in his best of health. Their boarding facility is amazing and good care is assured for him when ever I am on tour within the US or outside. It so happened when I had to relocate to India, I relied on Pets First to take care of Gudappan until I could transport him overseas. I would like to sincerely thank them for their service because of which Gundappan is now with me - thanks a million!
What's wrong with Trip
-Mary Stavitzski from Henrico, VA
Pet Name: Trip
My dog & I have been seeing Dr.Pikul. I had just had enough of my yappy 4yr.
old SPCA rescue, he was driving me nuts.I was considering giving my companion away.
I love this dog. He just seemed out of control.
Dr. Pikul recommended a dog collar that calms dogs down, changed his food to prescription. The very next day Trip was talking up a storm, he was happy and I was laughing. That night I came home he laid in my lap for the first time, my leg was actually sweating, he laid there so long, I didn't want to move, I finally had a calm pooch.Dr. Pikul called me and his Thyroid was low, so now he's on medicine.
My dog is not perfect and neither am I. If Dr. Pikul hadn't helped us,I'd had a
broken heart and lost a companion. I was determined to get him right and with the listening ears of the doctor. I know the direction is right.Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Mary

Pet Name: James
I only had to bring my thirteen year old dog James in twice.
The first time was on a panic filled Saturday morning after I noticed his hind leg had swollen to twice it's normal size. This was shortly after finding a lump in the same leg. After testing we found that it was an aggressive form of cancer.
A week later we brought him back. I have to give full marks to the team at VCA Pets First. We were ushered into a room as soon as we arrived, we were allowed time with my sweet beast and when it was time for him to slip away, the Vet and assistant quietly allowed him the grace and dignity that he failed to live his life with (He ran into door frames and walls fairly often, not very graceful).
When it was over they left us alone to say good bye and once we were able to leave we were ushered out a side door.
Thank you guys for not making an extremely difficult time in my life any harder.
