Timarie Simmons, DVM, Medical Director

DVM, Oklahoma State University

Biography

Dr. Simmons grew up in Oklahoma as the third daughter of two teachers. She attended Oklahoma State University College of Veterinary Medicine and graduated in 1998. During veterinary school, Dr. Simmons spent a great deal of time working with zoos and wildlife parks, as well as exotic pet practices. She practiced medicine in Oklahoma until 2004, seeing small animals and about 30% exotics. In 2005, Dr. Simmons moved to Alaska to practice and enjoy fishing and the great outdoors. While in Alaska, Dr. Simmons practiced at VCA hospitals and at Fort Richardson Army Veterinary Hospital. She now resides in Virginia with her son. Her daughter attends college in Texas.

Dr. Simmons loves to travel, watch movies, grill and is a HUGE fan of OU college football. She has had birds, lizards, giant tortoises, snakes, hamsters, horses, dogs and cats as pets. Currently, she has a little Italian Greyhound who is very happy to be out of Alaska! She also has two cats, a Bengal and a rescued stray, who was found severely injured outside of her clinic in Oklahoma. They all are now her entertainment for hours!
