Kara grew up in a small town in northern Nevada with sheep and cows and horses. Early in her life she knew her career would involve animals. She went to Colorado State University for B.S. and DVM and along the way of training in breeding cattle and embryo transfer found a true love for small animals. For the last 25 years she has been practicing small animal medicine and surgery, dentistry and behavior medicine. She also teaches canine obedience and rally. Currently owns (is owned by) one Irish wolfhound, one standard poodle, one Andalusian gelding, one African grey parrot, one cockatiel and two cats. Her human family includes two wonderful daughters and a husband.
