Pet Name: Bad CatWe want to thank Dr. Machicao and the entire staff for the compassion and kindness shown to us when our beloved cat was put to sleep. We loved him dearly and was truly part of our family. We are heartbroken over his death but Dr. Machicao explained to us that his kidney failure condition was chronic and that the humane thing was to put him to rest. We take comfort in the fact that our Bad Cat is not suffering anymore. Huge thanks to the kindest doctor ever, Dr. Machicao, for being there for us, for explaining things clearly, for not rushing us and for giving us so much of her time. In this moment of distress, we were lucky to be in such wonderful hands. I highly recommend VCA Old River Animal Hospital.

A great place
-Cat Owner from Tracy, CAI love Old River VCA. The entire staff is very compassionate and understanding of you and your own personal situation. They are expensive, however they do not force anything on you. I love how they follow up with phone calls and give the best advice on how to take care of your pet after the visit. My cat saw Dr. Machicao, who is a great person and doctor. She comes across as kind and gentle and will learn by heart your pet's history right away to give you the best care possible. I highly recommend Old River!

Toby's first visit and follow up visits

Pet Name: TobyWe brought our Yorkie, Toby into the office for his first physical. Before the appt was made, I called and discussed the type of exam that would be given and what was included. The staff answered all my questions and we brought Toby in.
As a nurse, I know what types of exams are done on people and was curious to see how the exam was done and how thorough it would be.
Dr. Machicao was very thorough with the exam and explained what she was checking for from ears to his paws.
She educated me on puppy care since he was being treated for kennel cough when we adopted him. I was happy that the clinic was concerned for the other dogs and placed us in a different area of the clinic so Toby wouldn't give his kennel cough to another dog.
Dr. Machicao gave her recommendations concerning Toby's health and possible congenital eye issue.
I have since spoke with staff, Pat and Sylvia (and others, but don't recall their names) and they are professional, caring and returned my calls after consulting with Dr. Machicao.
I would recommend this clinic and Vet for others who want great communication and care for their family pet.

Pet Name: HeidiI have been bringing my pets to VCA Old River for many years and have been pleased with the skill and knowledge of the Veterinarians. The front office staffs have always been friendly and cordial but what a pleasant surprise to find that they have kicked it up a notch or two! In the past I was often jealous of my friend’s Vet office staff that went out of their way to handle Pet Insurance claims but now that same great service is available at VCA Old River. Continue the good work and you will continue to receive my business.
