Biography

Dr. Maria Schmieder was born in the US Canal Zone, Panama as her father was in the U.S. Army stationed there, and she was an army brat.

She obtained her Bachelor of Science degree majoring in Chemistry from the University of Puerto Rico, and her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1978.

She spends her spare time with her husband Hans, and her two grown sons, Felix and Hans. She has two cats and a dove. In her spare time she enjoys reading and gardening.

VCA Old Marble Animal Hospital provides 24 hour emergency veterinary care, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Emergency veterinarians, veterinary technicians and/or veterinary assistants are on staff 24 hours a day.

We provide the highest standard in veterinary emergency and critical care services. We are trained and equipped to perform a variety of emergency surgeries and procedures. We provide the highest standards of pain management. Emergency internal medicine consultations, including full diagnostics, are available.
