Biography

Dr. Gretchen Fanconi-Shifflett grew up in Laytonsville, Maryland. She graduated from the University of Miami in 1997 with a bachelor in science and received her veterinary degree from the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine in 2001. Dr. Fanconi-Shifflett practiced in Raleigh, North Carolina and Chicago, Illinois before settling down in the Philadelphia area and joining the Old Marple team in 2005.

Outside of work, Dr. Fanconi-Shifflett enjoys spending time with her family, running, gardening and watching Miami football games. She and her husband, Ed, have two children, Ella, age 5, and Gavin, age 3. Gable, a very active pointer cross, Hugo (aka fat cat) and Pasadena (a handsome orange tabby cat) round out the family.

VCA Old Marble Animal Hospital provides 24 hour emergency veterinary care, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Emergency veterinarians, veterinary technicians and/or veterinary assistants are on staff 24 hours a day.
