Why I do What I do: I have always been an animal lover and when my shepherd became very ill I was constantly at the veterinary hospital having her treated and was always concerned about who was taking care of her when I couldn't. I decided then that I wanted to be that person that clients could trust when bringing their pet to the veterinarian for care. I wanted to provide comfort and compassion to all my clients while ensuring that all their pets received the gold standard of care.
Assistant ManagerJamie Rector, LVT
Jamie migrated from a small town on the opposite side of the state. She attended Penn State University, and shortly after, welcomed an AMAZING (now 16 year old, GULP…) daughter. After almost 10 years working with children diagnosed with Autism, she switched career paths and found herself submersed in the world of Veterinary Medicine. She comes to VCA with extensive experience in Specialty and Emergency Medicine, both as a nurse and in a Supervisory role. Jamie’s future goals include obtaining her certification as a CVPM (Certified Veterinary Practice Manager) and managing her own hospital. If she cannot be found at a softball or field hockey game cheering her daughter on, she enjoys traveling with her favorite guy, or taking a long run and a wicked barre class. Her four legged family is essential to her ‘sanity’ and includes 2 cats, Callie and Penn; 2 chinchillas, Moshe and Kismet; a crested gecko, Figment; and 2 AMAZING dogs, Tori, a Border Collie Mix, and the newest member of the chaos, Kyrie, an Australian Shepherd puppy. It is organized chaos at it’s best, but she wouldn’t have it any other way!
Why I do what I do: My animals have always been my rock. There is nothing happier then a wagging tail or as soothing as a calming purr. The transition to Veterinary Medicine was a natural one for me. I can think of no better way to witness the power of the bond between human and animal. In our field, we are able to see this connection every day and ensure the strength of that bond is there for as long as possible. To me, there is nothing more rewarding than that. Our ability to step in and provide our patients with high level medicine and build confidence in our clients that we are here to provide the utmost care to their pet is reason enough to do what I do.
Office ManagerKathleen Brady
Katie lives in Royersford, PA with her fiancé and their two cats Cortez and Orion, and Rocky, their Cocker Spaniel. She has been at VCA Old Marple Animal Hospital since 2005 in various departments over the years. As the Office Manager, she enjoys being able to assist fellow animal lovers and their companions through the administrative side of the veterinary field. Wen not at work or catering to her furbabies, she enjoys spending time outdoors hiking, biking and kayaking.
Why I do what I do: I knew from a very early age that I just had to be around animals. I chose to be a part of the veterinary field so that I could help keep them healthy and safe.
