Ever since Dr Hexter was old enough to have pets he knew that he wanted to become a veterinarian. After graduating from high school he attended the Ohio State University pre-vet program. While going to OSU Dr Hexter  volunteered for a local Veterinarian in Columbus to get experience and to see what a Veterinarians job was really all about, his duties included cleaning kennels and medicating patients to assisting in surgery. Before completing his undergraduate studies he applied to OSU Veterinary School. After graduating from Veterinary School in 1990 he moved to Connecticut and started working in general practice. Following 2 years of general practice he managed an Emergency Clinic in West Hartford for 4 1/2 years. Dr Hexter found emergency medicine to be very rewarding, however too demanding, he joined VCA Old Canal Veterinary Clinic 1996, he prefers working in a general practice and plans to finish his career at VCA Old Canal Veterinary Clinic. Dr Hexter owns a small farm where he has many pets,  some include, cats, dogs, horses, goats, chickens and hogs, he stays very busy,  but when her gets a break you can find him fishing, working out and playing basketball.
