Originally from New York, Dr. Martin spent 10 years traveling in South America, volunteered in the Galapagas Islands and then pursued her dream of becoming a veterinarian. Living in San Francisco for the next 15 years, Dr. Martin was commissioner of Animal Control and Welfare. After her husband retired, they decided to move to Arizona.
