A local pit bull named Mama was brought into VCA Noah's Place Animal Hospital after being attacked by a swarm of Africanized bees. She had over 100 stingers in her head and neck area that had to be removed. She was also on IV fluids and antihistamines to counteract the allergic reaction.

The bees had apparently colonized within the attic of a nearby house. Estimates of the number of bees in that colony are upwards of the tens of thousands. Another dog, named Boss, was sadly killed by the bee stings he received.

Mama (now renamed "Bee") has since recovered from not only her stings, but we've also treated her for being heartworm positive. She is now heartworm negative and up for adoption!

Please call us if you would like to meet Bee and see if she would be a great addition to your family.
