  • Saved My SummerTyme's Life

    -Diane F. from Wilmington, DE
    Pet Name: SummerTyme

Pet Image I have been a client of VCA- Newark for three and a half years. During that time, my 3 cats have received outstanding veterinary care by Dr. Lynne Craine and the hospital staff, who treat the animals as if they were their own. Last Fall, my cat, SummerTyme began vomiting several times a day. Despite conservative treatment, SummerTyme continued to vomit. An ultrasound showed an external blockage of one of her ureters, the tube that leads from the kidney to the bladder. As a result of the blockage, SummerTyme's kidney was failing and needed to be removed--- immediately. Emergency treatment for a pet is always worrisome, but I was particularly concerned as SummerTyme is a "special needs" cat as she has a small hole in her heart. Under the skilled "magical" hands of Dr. Gayle Jaeger, the bad kidney was removed. After a few days in the ICU, SummerTyme returned home to her brother, Tobey and her sister, Molly. She is now a happy and healthy cat who does not seem to miss her lost kidney. I will always be grateful to the staff at VCA-Newark for their caring and compassion as well as their veterinary expertise-they saved SummerTyme's life!

  • Like Family

    -Ron Fluehr from Oxford, PA
    Pet Name: Maddy and Beck

Pet Image Just thought I would chime in to thank the staff at VCA Newark for taking care of our 4 legged family for many years. From the time you walk in, everyone treats you like family. I have moved around over the years but always made sure my guys go to Dr Jenn when they are not feeling well or just need a check up.

  • Excellent Surgery

    -Loretta from Newark, DE
    Pet Name: Haoli

Pet Image My dog Hal, a 90 pound border collie, severely broke his hind leg. Dr. Gail Jaeger did an excellent job surgically repairing the leg to the point where Hal was able to walk out of the hospital one day after surgery. His recovery is speeding quickly and well. He got great compassionate care at VCA Delmarva, and after being so traumatized by the break is just the happiest guy to have his leg working so well again.

  • My Family

    -Annie from Newark, DE

The people at VCA Newark Animal Hospital have been part of my family for many years. They have seen me and my beloved cats through health and illness, and yes, helped us through an easy passing when needed. I feel lucky and honored to call them not only my vets and vet hospital, but my friends and family. Bless all of them!

  • VCA saved my cats life

-Joe and Lora Hodges from Delaware City, DE
    Pet Name: Pepper

My wife and I would just like to say we've never been treated so kindly and professionally by anyone like the staff at VCA Newark has. Our beautiful 1 1/2 year old cat "Pepper" which we consider part of our family had an unfortunate issue with some over the counter flea medicine. (Last time we ever use anything other than Frontline or Advantage).

We rushed our baby Pepper to VCA Newark in the middle of the night and the staff were on point the moment we walked through the door. Dr. Woodcock was a pleasure and treated us with the utmost respect and courtesy. He was great. Our cats temp was 105.6 and she was seizing. They stopped the seizing and brought here temp down to normal. She is now eating and moving around great. We thought we were going to lose here. Thanks to Dr. Woodcock and staff, they saved my cat's life.

We would recommend VCA Newark to all. We can't express how happy our whole family is. Thank you guys so much. And btw, Pepper just had 6 kittens 4 weeks ago and her 6 little babies are grateful as well :)

  • Emergency Foreign Body Surgery

    -Rebecca from Elkton, DE
    Pet Name: Echo

I'd like to thank the many doctors at VCA Newark for taking care of my 6 month old Golden Retriever Echo after he ate some corn cobs. They took great care of my puppy and made the right decisions so he could have the right surgery at the right time. They had a great beside manner and did a terrific job of explaining the circumstances and the options. I hope I never have to go back, but if I do, I will definitely chose VCA Newark.

  • Most Bittersweet of Goodbyes

-Becky and Chris Hankenson from Wilmington, DE
    Pet Name: Evelyn

My sweet girl Evelyn has been one of Dr. Craine's patients since I rescued her in 2005; she was so underweight I thought she was a kitten when we found her; but come to find out she was around 9 years old, suffering from hyperthyroidism. Dr. Craine explained the treatment options available, and after trying (and failing) with pills to treat it, we decided on Radiocat. What a wonderful procedure! Evie tolerated it wonderfully, and started gaining weight right away. Evie was diagnosed with renal failure in June 2011, and Dr. Craine was right there again to help treat her and make her feel better. By December 2011, it was clear Evie was failing, and January 4th, 2012 my husband and I had to say goodbye to my dearest love and faithful friend. It was a horrible and heartbreaking day, but Dr. Craine and Laura Carnahan were both so supportive and wonderful to us, we can't thank them enough. Dr. Craine made sure to fit Evie's procedure in, even though she had other clients waiting, just because she was Evie's doctor. Laura was also there to help aid Dr. Craine in the procedure, and for that we are ever so grateful. Their kindness meant the world to us, and is the reason we keep coming back. The VCA is a much better place for having both Dr. Craine and Laura.

  • Comfort for a great loss

    -Deborah Nielsen from Bear, DE

Pet Image I moved to Delaware about a year ago. I have 3 cats, and my oldest cat Sasha had been with me over 17 years. VCA helped her through a crises in April 2011 but by September 2011 it became clear that I had to part with my wonderful friend and love of 17 1/2 years. It was the hardest decision and worst day of my new life here in Delaware. The staff and Dr. Arcules did everything they could to ease the pain of the decision making process and to make the transition a peaceful one for my beautiful Sasha. I struggle each day with her loss, but I do thank the VCA staff for their understanding, help and compassion during this time. They are a very caring group of professionals.
