Saved My SummerTyme's Life-Diane F. from Wilmington, DE
Pet Name: SummerTyme
I have been a client of VCA- Newark for three and a half years. During that time, my 3 cats have received outstanding veterinary care by Dr. Lynne Craine and the hospital staff, who treat the animals as if they were their own. Last Fall, my cat, SummerTyme began vomiting several times a day. Despite conservative treatment, SummerTyme continued to vomit. An ultrasound showed an external blockage of one of her ureters, the tube that leads from the kidney to the bladder. As a result of the blockage, SummerTyme's kidney was failing and needed to be removed--- immediately. Emergency treatment for a pet is always worrisome, but I was particularly concerned as SummerTyme is a "special needs" cat as she has a small hole in her heart. Under the skilled "magical" hands of Dr. Gayle Jaeger, the bad kidney was removed. After a few days in the ICU, SummerTyme returned home to her brother, Tobey and her sister, Molly. She is now a happy and healthy cat who does not seem to miss her lost kidney. I will always be grateful to the staff at VCA-Newark for their caring and compassion as well as their veterinary expertise-they saved SummerTyme's life!

Pet Name: Maddy and Beck
Just thought I would chime in to thank the staff at VCA Newark for taking care of our 4 legged family for many years. From the time you walk in, everyone treats you like family. I have moved around over the years but always made sure my guys go to Dr Jenn when they are not feeling well or just need a check up.
Excellent Surgery-Loretta from Newark, DE
Pet Name: Haoli
My dog Hal, a 90 pound border collie, severely broke his hind leg. Dr. Gail Jaeger did an excellent job surgically repairing the leg to the point where Hal was able to walk out of the hospital one day after surgery. His recovery is speeding quickly and well. He got great compassionate care at VCA Delmarva, and after being so traumatized by the break is just the happiest guy to have his leg working so well again.
My Family-Annie from Newark, DE
The people at VCA Newark Animal Hospital have been part of my family for many years. They have seen me and my beloved cats through health and illness, and yes, helped us through an easy passing when needed. I feel lucky and honored to call them not only my vets and vet hospital, but my friends and family. Bless all of them!

Wish Family Doctor's office would emulate VCA-George and Susana Minkalis from Newark, DE
Pet Name: Diego
VCA really deserves this compliment! We sure wish Family Doctor's offices would emulate how VCA runs it's office and how approachable the Vets are! Main-stream Doctors could learn a thing or two if they would watch VCA's office! Every single time we have ever called whether it be for an appt. or a prescription or for a question, we have always been greeted kindly & promptly, they have such a caring attitude! Today, we physically came into office and the Vet tech & front desk girls, "Sierra" and "Stella" were so friendly, informative and understanding! That's how an office should operate, and VCA has the "people skills" department covered, for that's an important aspect of any business besides skill set! As for the Vets, well, they are all so kind, but our vet is Dr. Carothers & she has been treating our dog "Diego" for several years who has severe allergies and honestly she is a Blessing to us! She understands our dilemmas, she takes time out to listen, doesn't rush us, she is approachable, knowledgeable and kind and compassionate! She returns our phone calls, she probes to research to give our dog relief and displays a kind caring heart towards our dog! Sure wish main-stream doctors would act like this! Dr. Carothers has the utmost respect from us, for she is genuine! She's one of the best vets I have ever seen! This is why we will always be dedicated and loyal to VCA, they hire the best vets and office staff to make a pet owners experience a positive one! Thanks to all the staff at VCA Newark, your kind services don't go unnoticed!
Best Service Ever-Leslie from Wilmington, DE
Seeing your pet in distress is heartbreaking and I was immediately put at ease the moment I spoke to Karen on the phone. It had been many years since we first visited this location and Karen explained the services as she prepared for our arrival. Once we arrived, we were greeted by Sierra who showed compassion and was quick to ask Eric to begin the assessment of our dog. After a short wait, Dr. Roy-Eitner met with us and explained her diagnosis and recommendation for treatment. She was extremely thorough and caring and we knew our dog was in good hands. Eric completed the process thoroughly explaining the discharge instructions. Everyone we encountered was warm, patient and professional. They treated our dog as if he was one of their own. This experience went from fear and anxiety to laughter and gratitude. Thank you to everyone for taking such good care of our dog. Best service ever!
Memorial Day emergency-Lisa Chapman from Wilmington, DE
Pet Name: Sox the cat
My cat Sox, a two year old tabby, had problems using the litter box on Memorial Day weekend. He cried and got sick after he tried to use his litter box. I called VCA Hospital on Marrows Road since they are open on holiday weekends (Pike Creek animal hospital was closed and had the number on their machine) and told them what happened. I rushed him there and he was treated very well. They gave him his own cage and unblocked his urethra. He had to have a catheter to help him urinate again. I was given medicine and special food so he wouldn't get sick again. He wasn't really happy about the cone on his head, and I kept him in one room to watch him eat and drink and use the litter pan again. I am so glad they were open because he could have become really bad if I had waited to take him. I sent a thank you card in the mail, because I was so glad they were open.
