    Scott Amtsberg

    Scott started out with VCA in November, 1996 by walking dogs part time after a rewarding career in the culinary world. After becoming a technician and technical supervisor at his first hospital, VCA Delmarva Animal Hospital in Berlin, MD he moved up to manage that hospital in May, 2005. The opportunity arose in April, 2008 to become a member of the team at VCA Newark Animal Hospital and he has been honored to be serving Newark and the surrounding communities ever since along side an amazing team.

    Why I Do What I Do...

    "I got into the veterinary field by accident, but quickly realized it was what I had been looking for all my life. As a technician I experienced the responsibility that came with educating and supporting the individuals, families, and pets who put their trust in our team to keep them healthy, and help them through the tough times. As a Hospital Manager I've realized how fortunate I am to be able to support our hospital team in providing for our patients and clients as we provide an important service to our community. I truly love my job and am proud to work side by side with so many dedicated and passionate people that share the same focus as I do... being an advocate for those that cannot speak for themselves."


  • Assistant Manager

    Lisa Garrett

    Lisa started at VCA Lewis in Columbia, Maryland in 1997 working in the kennel and at the front desk before becoming Office Manager. She went on to be Hospital Manager at two other VCA hospitals before coming to VCA Newark in February of 2010.

    Why I Do What I Do...

    "When I was a little girl my Dad told me to love what you do and do what you love. I would come home with the neighbor's dogs and cats and tell my parents, "...they need home." I tried many different jobs in my life, but when I was hired in the kennel at VCA Lewis I knew I found my career. Not only did I get to be an advocate for the pets I took care of, I also got to take care of the clients too. Every pet and every client deserves the best and I get to make sure they get it."
