Hospital ManagerKristin McCarthy
School: Penn State University, Elementary Education
As a child, I always dreamed of being a veterinarian. I attended Penn State University beginning in the Animal Science Field with the thought of fulfilling my lifelong dream. After a couple of years at school, I realized that my compassion for animals would make it very difficult for me to perform surgery and to ultimately make the decisions needed to euthanize at the end of an animal's journey. With that thought, I decided to change my direction toward elementary education. I became an elementary teacher right out of school, but always regretted never fulfilling my dream. After having two children of my own, I decided to change my life's direction. A full time opportunity presented it self at VCA Neshaminy Animal Hospital and I decided to jump on it. I've been with VCA now for almost 6 years and I love my job. At home, my favorite job is to tend to my family consisting of 2 children, ages 13 and 17, my husband, and my many furry children including 3 dogs, Duncan, Nevada, and Sydney and a bunny named Cappuccino. My outside interests include camping, softball, and general family activities like hiking with the dogs at Tyler State Park.
