If coyotes are known to live in your area, make every effort to keep your cats indoors at all times, and make sure your dogs are supervised when outdoors. If attacked by coyotes, cats and dogs usually suffer severe injuries in the head and neck area.
Emergency veterinary care may be lifesaving in some cases of coyote attack
Dogs are most commonly bitten while on hikes in the surrounding canyons and parks, or at home in the yard or garden in the canyon areas. If your pet is bitten by a snake, go immediately to an animal hospital for medical care.
A vaccine that can help lessen the injurious effects of rattlesnake envenomation is available, and we advise owners to consider giving the vaccine annually to dogs living in high-risk areas
