VCA Lakewood Animal Hospital

Our Hospital

We are a 24-hour, full-service facility conveniently located ½ mile west of the 605 freeway, equipped with a state-of-the-art surgical suite with top-of-the-line monitoring equipment, along with a board-eligible surgeon on the premises. We have the capability to perform specialized surgeries, digital endoscopies, digital radiographs, and digital ultrasounds. We also provide dentals, vaccines, preventative care, a low-cost spay and neuter program, puppy and kitten plans, as well as boarding and grooming.

Local Medical Issues

Within our area there are particular health issues and considerations that we would like all our clients to be aware of. For the most part, Southern California experiences warmer weather throughout the year, so we recommend that all cats and dogs be kept on flea and tick preventatives such as Frontline Plus, a topical monthly preventative.

Zoonotic diseases, diseases that can be transmitted from pets to people, are also something to take precaution against. For instance, roundworms can be transmitted from possums and raccoons, skunks can transmit the rabies virus, and coyotes can transmit heartworms.
